Mathematics Department Information

KS3 Mathematics

At KS3 our pupils cover a wide range of topics in the areas of Number, Algebra, Handling Data and Shape Space and Measures

Our programme of study incorporates the application of mathematical skills to real life situations and mental mathematics skills.

Pupils who are experiencing difficulties with their maths can receive extra tuition at our Aspire Hub.

GCSE Mathematics

All our pupils follow the CCEA GCSE specification. Pupils who study at Foundation Level in Year 11 and successfully achieve a grade C* or C can then go on to sit Higher modules in Year 12 and work towards grades A*-B.

GCSE Further Mathematics

Pupils who study M4 and M8 modules in Year 11 and successfully achieve a grade A*-B then go on to sit the GCSE Further Maths at the end of Year 12.

A-Level Mathematics

Pupils study CCEA AS Maths in Year 13 which leads to the A2 course in Year 14. Pupils study both Pure and Applied maths each year.

Extra-Curricular

We celebrate Maths Week Ireland each October with a range of puzzles, competitions, and activities.

We enter pupils for the UKMT Maths Challenges each year.

The Maths Department offers all KS3 pupils’ access to the online learning platform “Sparx Maths”.

We provide after-school revision classes and block revision sessions to pupils sitting GCSE and A-Level modules.
