Assessments
‘Assessment is our focus, but learning is our goal’
We structure our assessment for learning practice so that each pupil can achieve to the best of their ability. We want our pupils to work hard both in class and at home and engage fully in their studies. Assessment for learning is a vital part of this process ensuring that we can track pupil progress throughout the year.

Attitude to Learning
We place great importance on pupil attitude and believe that a positive attitude to learning will have a profoundly positive impact on pupil attainment. Through our assessment for learning practice, we reward pupils who adopt a positive attitude to their learning.
Score
Description
1
When a pupil displays a positive approach to their learning and is working to the best of their ability.
2
When a pupil is working well on most occasions but could improve on one area in particular.
3
When a pupil generally works well but has two or more areas that they could improve upon.
4
When a pupil is not demonstrating a good worth ethic or has not adopted a positive approach to their studies.
Reporting
We use the Sims App to report (digitally) to parents at the end of each Assessment. We will then provide a full Key Stage 3 report (digitally) at the end of the school year. This report will include all 4 Assessments as well as summative comments from teachers. Pupils should track their own progress and record their assessment results.
