Eco-Schools
We are delighted to report that the school was awarded its first Green Flag Award in June 2025 (valid for two years). Environmental Club
St. Cecilia’s Environmental Club is a group of enthusiastic pupils who are passionate about saving the planet and raising environmental awareness.
For over 10 years, past and present pupils have tackled food waste, eliminated plastic cutlery, introduced reusable water bottles, provided recycling bins in every classroom, prepared the green house for the Soil Sister Club, and have won many awards.

Led by Miss Rainey, the club meet weekly, hosting environmental assemblies, running termly clothing swap shops and monitoring recycling practices. The club provides opportunities to meet with students in other year groups, sharing forward thinking ideas and taking part in a variety of eco-activities (including trips, litter pick-ups and workshops). This year we have linked up with Northern Ireland Resources Network and Business in the Community Northern Ireland to learn about the circular economy.
