History & Politics Department Information
​
All our Key Stage 3 pupils take part in an Historical Field study of the Derry Walls and complete a Siege Trail in Year 9 where they visit the Apprentice Boys of Derry Museum and then complete a historical site study of Derry’s Walls.
​
All pupils at Key Stage 4 go to the Museum of Free Derry and take part in a Troubles Tour of Derry/Belfast, including a visit to Stormont.

Our A-Level and Politics pupils, avail of trips to Dublin as part of their study of Ireland, Union to Partition. They visit the GPO, Kilmainham Gaol, Arbour Hill and do a walking 1916 Tour of Dublin. Pupils also complete a local history enrichment project with the Bloody Sunday Trust, and in 2022 and 2023 our A-Level pupils have won the city-wide competition. Their projects focused on the Factory Girls and female Trailblazers in Irish politics and history.
