The site and buildings are vested in the trustees of the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Derry.
St Cecilia's College is a Catholic Maintained girls' school built on a site overlooking the Long Tower Parish in Derry. It was officially opened on 22nd November, (the feast day of St Cecilia) 1967 with 369 pupils and a staff of 19 including principal and vice-principal.
Its present enrolment is 930 girls aged between 11-18 drawn from all parts of the city. Teaching staff now number 61 with supporting office, technical and manual staff.
- To provide a continuous and co-ordinated curriculum in accordance with the Programmes of Study, Attainment Targets and Educational Themes of the Northern Ireland Curriculum.
- To allow children to experience enjoyment in learning.
- To promote and develop Christian attitudes and values.
- To foster, to the highest degree, the relevant and balanced academic and social development of each pupil.
- To establish a caring, supportive and secure school environment in partnership with the home, church and community.
- To prepare students for their lives as adults at home, at work, at leisure and as responsible members of society.
