During February, 61 Y13 students of Health and Social Care and CACHE were given an insight into Disability Awareness Training by the Cedar Foundation, led by Phil Conn. The Cedar Foundation is an organisation that aims to assist and empower those in our community who are disabled or suffering from head injuries. The students found the sessions beneficial in many ways, not only for their coursework but also as a taster for possible career interests in the future and as an awareness-raising exercise about the lives of the disabled and how they can be empowered. The sessions were a great success and as a result, the Cedar Foundation have invited us to
visit their premises and to meet with some of the service users. A number of our students have expressed an interest in completing an OCR Accredited course in Disability Awareness Training and this will hopefully be delivered by Phil Conn from the Cedar Foundation in the Spring.
