A group of Year 12 students visited the Loughs Agency at Prehen on consecutive days on Wednesday and Thursday 27& 28 January 2010 as part of their BTEC Science course.
They carried out a number of Ecology Research Activities, completing a number of tasks and laying the groundwork for others. They were also able to see behind the scenes at the centre, finding out about poaching, fishing stocks & fishing licences, captured boats, nets, cars and other criminal evidence.
On the second day the pupils carried out a field study of the River Glenmornan at 2 sites above and below the village of Artigarvan to assess any possible contamination.
It was a really worthwhile couple of days that the students really enjoyed. They learned a great deal, worked exceptionally hard and made an excellent impression on all the staff at the centre. Mr. Gill and Mr. O’Donnell were so pleased with the work done that there were McFlurrys all round.
